At least when the UK Top Gear tested British Leyland cars they used a Datsun 120Y and referred to that as the 'superior' car.
Now I'm not saying Nissan/Datsun are the be all and end all of cars, just they were (in my opinion) unfairly represented in the US Top Gear. By the way I've only watched the one episode of the US version(only because it had the Z31) and I won't be watching another.

EDIT: Has anyone yet tried sleeping in a Z31? I did it once at a party. Got pretty drunk and didn't make it inside, so I crashed in the passenger seat. Glass roof almost froze over, it was horribly cold, and man is it uncomfortable...

Memories... Driving to Adelaide in my first z31, had no space saver spare as they were worth 1k or so.
As there was 3 of us, took the full size spare out.
Anyway hairline crack in my expensive 16" rims at the time resulted in all 3 of us sleeping sober in the z while we waited for a friend to organise & get to us with my spare tyre.
Seeing him arrive with the tire after this experience was one of the greatest moments of our lives!

Exactly what I did. My girlfriend scored the more spacious passenger seat, and the back seats weren't an option as I had them down to make room for 2 12" subs facing forwards, almost hitting the back of the front seats for "epic dubstep beats and shit".
